Hofbräu Oktoberfestbier is an Oktoberfest lager from Hofbräu München Brewery in Munich, Germany. One of the ‘Big Six’ original Munich breweries, only Hofbräu München can lay claim to royal heritage! Founded by Duke Wilhelm V in 1589, they originally only brewed beer for the royal family. However, the royal brewery eventually started selling their beer outside the royal household, and became one of the biggest producers of beer in Germany.
During the Oktoberfest period, the best part of a million litres of beer is consumed in the Hofbrau tent. Much of this is Hofbräu Oktoberfestbier, a special 6.3% ABV beer with a golden yellow appearance Aromas of sweet malts with notes of grass, grain and hay rise from the beer, and the first sip reveals a rich, malty flavour with a hoppy dry finish.
